What’s Your Favorite Wedding Candy?

Who doesn’t love wedding candy? Okay, there are a few people, but for the most part we love getting to a reception hall so we can see what kind of candy there is on the table. Yeah, I know someone’s going to say they can’t wait to get to the bar but for those people who don’t drink, or the kids, the candy is the thing.

What would you say is your favorite type of wedding candy? Let’s take a look at the normal suspects to see what we usually have to deal with.

1. Pillow mints. They’re not bad as far as candy goes, but I don’t know many people who will go out of their way to buy pillow mints on their own. There aren’t many homes you visit where they have a big bowl of pillow mints sitting around.

2. M&M’s. We all love these things, and they’re very inexpensive for most wedding couples to purchase and then easy to pop into one of those little net things. These days M&M’s come in different types of colors and many different flavors, which helps to spice things up. They don’t take a lot of imagination, but I always find myself having to stop on the way home to buy more, even if I hadn’t thought about them for a long time.

3. Star mints. You know these things; we get them all throughout the year, and they usually come with either red or green stripes. These are so common that they’re almost boring for a wedding; it’s like there wasn’t even any imagination in deciding on them. That plus they always cut my tongue, and I know I can’t be the only one.

4. Hershey’s kisses. Ah yes, finally we’ve gotten into some real chocolate, only this is another one of those candies that, until recently, used to be seen as kind of boring. Then the company decided to really make some changes, and now they come with cherry and orange flavors, peanut butter, mint, almonds, and even one with the little krispies in them. Suddenly this is an exotic choice, and I always look forward to seeing just what kind the hosts have selected.

5. Other hard candies. I know a lot of people who love these mixes, but I’m not one of them. I’m not much into candy that’s tart, and all those different fruit flavors don’t quite tickle my fancy either. Still, it offers the chance to have a variety of flavors that will enthrall some people.

If I had my wishes granted every wedding would offer a Toblerone and half the guests wouldn’t eat theirs so I could grab them and take them home with me. Pipe dreams are allowed, aren’t they?
